Irritating Bus Jingle

Sometimes, change is really for the worse. I stepped onto a 196 bus this morning and got a surprise when a jingle was played. At first, I thought it was not bad, y'know, it gave a sense of welcome and stuff. But after listening to the same music continuously for a few stops, I started worrying for the poor bus driver. The jingle must be so distracting to him. What's the point of incorporating the jingle? It is a bus, for goodness' sake, not a shopping centre.
